Family House in Beroun
finished 2007

The property is located on Western end of Beroun, on the border between open the countryside and the town. The plot lies near the edge of a forest in a slight terrain wave and has a pleasant view of the opposite side of the valley. Apart from electricity, there are no underground services on the plot. Drinking water is drawn from the plot´s own well, the heating and warm water is supplied by an underground heat pump, the sewage is cleaned by the house´s own water treatment plant.
The house is composed as a compact, regular volume with a free composition of windows. The roof is "cut off" slantwise and reacts to the configuration of the surrounding landscape. The house has a ground floor and a first floor, no basement. The living area with kitchen, entrance area, toilet and technical room fills the largest part of the ground floor. On the first floor are three bedrooms and a bathroom. The interior as well as the exterior emphasize the use of natural materials and surfaces - smooth uncovered concrete on the ceilings, stucco plaster on the walls, natural linoleum, wooden windows, steel stairway, wooden areas of tongue and groove terraces.
From the construction point of view, the house is a one-wing-building built with traditional technologies, i.e. concrete foundations, supporting walls built from warmth-insulating ceramic blocks, monolithic reinforced concrete ceilings, and flat roof with reversed composition.
